Over the last few years, the Indian
Lighting Industry has seen phenomenal growth, upgradation in technology,
products, product design and most importantly, a huge growth and
diversification in application.
This has been the result, on the one hand, of a growing interest
in India as a large prospective market and entry of a lot of well
known multinationals and brand leaders as a consequence.
On the other hand, India itself is undergoing a development in
infrastructure - roads, railway networks and stations, airports,
sports stadia are being added and upgraded to international standards.
Along with this, the retail sector has seen a huge boom with malls
and condominium complexes mushrooming in towns and metros. Apart
from malls, the face of retailing has changed with the advent of
showrooms with emphasis on general and accent lighting. In effect,
there is a new breed of lighting specifiers who are more discerning
and demanding.
The entire process has necessitated the availability of a ready
reckoner on Indian Lighting - suppliers, producers, ancillaries,
dealers, and the Directory of the Lighting Industry in India provides
this service. The February 2008 edition will be the 6th updated
edition since its inception in 1991 to coincide with the Lighting
Exhibitions and Conferences organised by the Indian Society of Lighting
Engineers.
This edition will be released with the Light India International
2008 Exhibition and Conference to be held in Pragati Maidan from
22 - 25 February, 2008. |
