Background |

We take great pleasure in aanouncing that the next Light India
International Exhibition and Conference (Lii 2005) will be held
from September 9-14 September, 2005 in New Delhi. In the world of
lighting there are only two coutries that have consistently seen
double digit growth figures, and they are China and India. The $700
million Indian lighting market is now in a maturity stage, where
it offers opportunities to large, medium and small 'players' to
manufacture, to trade, to supply, or to support.
It is therefore no surprise that some of the world's most respected
lighting companies are already in India, Philips, Osram, GE, Thorn,
Angelo Brothers, Westinghouse, Zumtobel, Vossloh Schwabe, Atco,
Gavis, etc.
The rapidly falling import duties have also opened the Indian market
to imports of finished products, sub-assemblies, components and
raw materials. It is estimated that already in 2003, over $200 million
worth was imported, and the figures are growing rapidly. Domestic
lighting luminaires, special application luminaires, compact fluorescent
lamps, special application lamps, and a wide range of components
and raw materials are presently finding their way into India.
The Indian market is fully developed, with channels of distribution
well in place. Lighting products move efficently across the large
sub-continent to thousands of retail outlets and speciaised electrical
dealers, each with an appropriate infrastructure to cater to consumer
requirements.
The emergence of world products has resulted in the enlargement
of of the Indian market on the one hand, and the necessity of producing
world class products on the other. This in turn has opened the possibility
for exports from India, which are growing rapidly because of the
advantage India has on competitive pricing, especially where small
series of production and labour inputs are involved.
India has become a worthwhile destination for lighting, both for
exports and imports. The market is truly global and open to further
expansion because it is witnessing phenomenal growth.
Whether you would like to export to India or import from India,
Light India International is the ideal platform to meet your buyers
or suppliers as the case may be. We look forward to seeing you there!
